WORLD ACCLAIM FOR BUSHMANS KLOOF WILDERNESS RESERVE

Bushmans Kloof was ranked as the 5th 'Top Hotel in the World'  by Travel + Leisure - the leading travel magazine in the United States (August 2004).  The lodge also claimed an impressive 4th place in both the 'Top Hotels in Africa and Middle East' category, as well as in the 'Top 15 Small Hotels' category.

Last year (2003) Travel + Leisure voted Bushmans Kloof one of the Top 25 Eco Lodges in the World, by an 'innovative retreat that is committed to conservation - with the added value of cultural sensitivity, isolation, and of course, style'.

This year was however a first for the unique Wilderness Reserve & Retreat to be competing against the very best hotels all over the globe, in the three prestigious Top Hotel categories.

This follows its inclusion for the first time, in the prestigious TOP 100 RESTAURANTS OF SOUTH AFRICA (2004).

It also received another important international accolade this year, when it was voted as one of the coveted Grand Award Winners for 2004, in the USA’s Andrew Harper’s Hideaways Report.  Bushmans Kloof was one of only three winners on the Africa continent, singled out as one of the most captivating hotels and resorts in the world.

Bushmans Kloof is a member of Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious international Association that sets out to promote true hospitality, and guarantees outstanding quality service, based on the “5 C’s” philosophy of the Association: Character, Charm, Calm, Cuisine, Courtesy.

In October 2001 the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa awarded a five star grading to Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Retreat, and it has been named a Gold Achiever for six consecutive years by being voted one of the country's top establishments in the annual AA Travel Guides/SAA Accommodation Awards that is announced at Indaba in Durban every year. 

The Spa at Bushmans Kloof was first awarded Platinum Circle Status in April 2003, a mere seven months after it was opened. The coveted Status was achieved again in 2004, in recognition of the Spa’s high standard; and for embracing the vision, and projecting the image of the technologically advanced Dermalogica skincare product range, which is used exclusively at the Spa.

The Bushmans Kloof wine list received a Merit Award in the 2002 Diners Club Wine List of the Year competition. This followed its 1999, 2000 and 2001 Diners Club Merit Awards, and the prestigious Peter Devereaux Award for the highest scoring new entry in 1999. (The competition had its final run in 2002, and has subsequently been discontinued.)
