BUSHMANS KLOOF ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF CHRIS MARE AS HEAD CHEF |

Talented Senior Sous Chef Chris Mare
has been promoted to Head Chef at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve
and Retreat in the Cederberg. Mare began his journey as a chef with
in-house training under the mentorship of one of SA’s top chefs Mike
Basset, first at the renowned Ginja restaurant in Cape Town’s City
Bowl and then at the Melrose Arch Protea Hotel in Gauteng. It was during
this time that Mare graduated from the Cape Town Hotel School in Granger
Bay, before moving on to become Demi Chef de Partie at the Twelve Apostles
Hotel & Spa in Cape Town (February 2003). There he worked his way up
to Senior Chef de Partie in the space of two years, before taking up
the position of Sous Chef at the Lady Phillips Restaurant at Vergelegen
Wine Estate in Somerset West (March 2005). In June 2006 he returned
to the Twelve Apostles in the capacity of Junior Sous Chef before transferring
