THE MANOR HOUSE   JULY 1999

The 7th of December 1998 marked the official launch of the prestigious Manor House at Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, when guest of honour, Dr Anton Rupert unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion.

The owners of Bushmans Kloof, Bill, Penny and their son Mark McAdam, hosted a group of business leaders, media moguls and celebrities during 24 hours of a true Cape wilderness experience at Bushmans Kloof. Guests received one of a series of fifteen original Stephen Townley Bassett miniature paintings of rock art found at Bushmans Kloof, which were specially commissioned to celebrate the opening of the Manor House.

Unashamedly sophisticated, luxurious and exquisitely furnished, the Manor House can also operate as a “lodge within a lodge” and offers total privacy and exclusivity. It consists of four executive suites named after early Scottish explorers: Gordon, Paterson, Niven and Masson, each with a private terrace with mountain and river views. The Manor House boasts a superb sitting room with fireplace, a satellite television room with office facilities, the cosy Bain’s Bar, and a dining room and adjoining kitchen. At the service of Manor House guests is a dedicated chef, as well as a personal game ranger with the exclusive use of a game viewing vehicle.

A 360 square metre deck in balu wood adjoins the Manor House, and provides a perfect setting for sundowners and barbeques under the century old Ficus trees. Alternatively, a rietdak veranda with glorious river and mountain views as backdrop, calls for al fresco dining.

All the suites at Bushmans Kloof are equipped with separate bath and shower, air-conditioning, underfloor heating, ceiling fans and electric blankets in winter. Also hairdryers, bathrobes, telephones, safety deposit boxes and mini-bars.
