CAPE TOWN TO CLANWILLIAM
Recommendation: Kardoesie is a farm-style restaurant ideal for a light lunch. You’ll find it just outside Citrusdal on your right hand side.
- Depart Cape Town via the N1
- Take the N7 off-ramp towards Malmesbury; this turnoff comes before Century City/Ratanga Junction
- Continue past Malmesbury, towards the Olifants River Valley. You’ll pass Moorreesburg, Piketberg and Citrusdal; route takes approximately 2 hours
- Turn right onto the R364 to Lamberts Bay/Clanwilliam. You’ll find the turnoff just past the Clanwilliam dam (on your right hand side)
- At the T-junction, turn right towards Clanwilliam
CLANWILLIAM TO BUSHMANS KLOOF
Recommendation: As you enter Clanwilliam, a petrol station is located on the left hand side. It’s a good idea to fill up here.
There is no mobile reception after this point, so we ask that you please call the lodge here. We can then anticipate the time of your arrival. The number is +27 (0) 27 482 8200.
The distance from Clanwilliam to the lodge gate is approximately 40km.
- Continue straight on the R364 towards Wupperthal and Calvinia
- You will cross a bridge. Follow the tarred road for approximately 25km, past ‘Louis Leipoldt’s Grave’ and over the Pakhuis Pass
- Cross a low bridge over the Brandewyns River
- Continue past a sign on the left hand side to ‘Traveller’s Rest’
- After travelling for 800m, the Bushmans Kloof gate will be on your right hand side
- Turn right at the Bushmans Kloof gate
BUSHMANS KLOOF: FROM THE GATE TO THE LODGE
Recommended speed in the reserve is 40km per hour.
- Continue straight, crossing a small bridge below the dam wall. Follow the signs to the lodge
- On arrival, please park your car next to the big Blue Gum trees, and the building marked ‘Reception’
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that our gate closes at 17:00 daily.
