Wilderness Wine Tour to Cederberg Private Cellar
Our wilderness wine excursion, takes a maximum of four guests on a private day tour of Cederberg Private Cellar. Known as South Africa’s ‘highest winery’, Cederberg Private Cellar is located within the pristine environs of the Cederberg Wilderness Area where owner and winemaker David Nieuwoudt sculpts dramatic wines at an altitude of more than 1000m above sea level.
The Cederberg Private Cellar excursion takes guests into the heart of the breathtaking Cederberg Mountains in a comfortable Toyota Fortuner 4x4. The rugged landscape with its spectacular rock formations may be admired during the two hour drive while one of Bushmans Kloof’s knowledgeable guides regale guests with fascinating anecdotes and perspectives of the area.
Enjoy a private tour of the winery, followed by a tasting of Cederberg wines that are renowned for showing exceptional purity of fruit due to the cool continental climate, diverse soil types, unpolluted air and crystal clear waters of the region. Here red wine production constitutes 60% of the overall production where 53 ha are under vine. For white vine varieties the focus is on Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Bukettraube, and for red wine varieties on Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Other cultivars on the farm include Chardonnay (for the MCC Blanc de Blancs Brut), Viognier (as a blending component) and Merlot (for the Merlot Shiraz blend).
